Product Details

The GNC Flange to Frankfurt with Spring Element is designed to allow Frankfurt abrasives to be used on CNC machinery for surface finishing applications. Ideal for polishing, honing, brushing and texturing stone surfaces, it helps maintain consistent contact between the abrasive and the slab throughout the machining process.

Its integrated spring loaded design allows the abrasive to follow minor variations in the stone surface, helping to maintain even pressure across the work area. This improves finish consistency and makes it particularly effective for producing brushed, satin, leathered and antiqued finishes on natural stone and engineered materials.

Technical Features

  • Dynamic Spring-Loaded Shock Absorption: High resilience spring elements help absorb machine vibration and maintain consistent abrasive contact across the stone surface. By allowing the abrasive to follow minor variations in the slab, the system promotes a more even finish and improved surface consistency.

  • Three-Slot Frankfurt Configuration: Equipped with 3 integrated Frankfurt tool holders, enabling rapid tool changes of standard calibrate, honing, or texturing blocks.

  • Universal 6-Hole Flange Interface: Designed with a 50mm flange pattern featuring 6 M6 alignment holes for direct, highly stable bolt mounting onto your main tool holder cones.

  • Balanced Rigid Architecture: Boasting a heavy duty, structural 5.5 kg footprint that provides the necessary downward mechanical mass to keep finishing blocks perfectly flat and stable under lateral feed loads.

Tool Application Style

  • Slab Surface Texturing: Ideal for driving antiquing, satin, leathering and texturing brushes across marble, granite, quartzite and other natural stone surfaces, helping to produce a consistent finish across the entire slab.

  • Lippage & Face Finishing: Ideal for uniform honing or pre-polishing runs where localised thickness deviations across the slab surface normally compromise rigid tool paths.

CNC Operational & Handling Guidelines

Because automated CNC machining functions via precise mechanical tracking under immense structural forces, operators must follow these handling rules:

  • High-Stability Rigid Coning Required: For safe operation, always mount this 5.5 kg GNC plate to your machine spindle using a dedicated 50mm flange-fitting tool holder cone. Avoid the use of 1/2″ Gas-to-flange adapters, as the severe lateral torque generated during wide-diameter polishing can stress and fracture smaller threaded shafts.

  • Calibrate Maximum Feed Velocity: Program your CNC parameters to respect the tool’s maximum operating threshold of 2500 mm/min. Exceeding this feed rate can cause the spring elements to lag, leading to skips or uneven texturing paths across the stone face.

  • Regular Debris Flushing: Due to the close proximity of the spring elements to stone slurry and abrasive dust, ensure the entire spring housing is thoroughly flushed with clean water after each production cycle to prevent mineral build up or mechanical locking.

Application Constraints Warning

NEVER operate the GNC Flange to Frankfurt plate dry. Continuous wet operation is required to lubricate the active abrasives and keep the internal spring components clean. Additionally, do not exceed the recommended downward pressure thresholds in your machine’s CAD/CAM settings; over compressing the spring elements until they bottom out entirely will neutralise the shock absorbing safety function, potentially cracking the stone slab or damaging the spindle bearings.
