Hybrid Cup Wheel

Hybrid Resin Cup Wheel, M14. By E-VDS

Designed for quartz, granite, natural stone and ultra compact surfaces (UCS), this 100mm hybrid resin cup wheel delivers fast material removal, smooth surface refinement and consistent finishing performance. It slightly off centre design helps minimise repeating grind lines, while the M14 fitting and wet or dry capability make it ideal for shaping, levelling and surface preparation across a wide range of fabrication applications.

Product Details

The Hybrid Resin Cup is a high quality, targeted solution engineered to deliver flawless surface smoothing and edge profiling without the severe risk of chipping or cracking vitrified stones. Hard, brittle surfaces like porcelain carry low fracture toughness, meaning traditional metal-bond cup wheels are often too aggressive, leaving behind deep scratches or micro-fractures along the edges.

This tool features an advanced high quality hybrid abrasive composition. It bridges the gap between aggressive material removal and refined polishing, absorbing handheld machine vibrations to give fabricators absolute tactile control. Calibrated exclusively for wet use, the hybrid matrix steadily lubricates the contact zone, rapidly clearing away fine stone slurry to prevent friction heat build up and reveal a smooth, factory clean finish.

Technical Features

  • High-Quality Hybrid Abrasive: Combines the fast cutting action of a grinding wheel with the delicate finishing properties of a resin bond to prevent surface scratching.

  • Porcelain Optimised Bond Formulation: Calibrated specifically to smoothly shave and polish vitrified, ceramic, and porcelain structures without triggering edge blowout.

  • Integrated M14 Threaded Core: Equipped with a standard M14 threaded connection for direct machine mounting, while the slightly off centre design helps minimise repeating grind lines and improve surface consistency.

  • Progressive Grit Availability: Offered in a targeted sequencing (Grit 30, 50, 100, and 200) to allow a seamless transition from initial stock calibrated levelling to refined edge pre polishing.

Tool Application Style

  • Porcelain Edge & Mitre Polishing: Ideal for cleaning up raw hand-cut edges, refining complex mitre joints, and preparing porcelain slabs for seamless bonding.

  • Surface Lippage Smoothing: Perfect for gently knocking down uneven seams, removing slight surface imperfections, and shaping precise radius edges on worktops.

Handheld Operational & Handling Guidelines

Because handheld angle grinders function via direct operator steering rather than computerised machine tracks, traditional parameter tables do not apply. Due to the precision requirements of porcelain finishing, operators must follow these handling rules:

  • Strict Wet Operational Protocol: This tool is engineered for wet use. A continuous, steady stream of clean water must be fed to the cutting face to flush out any dust, prevent friction spikes, and protect the hybrid resin from premature breakdown.

  • Light, Uniform Surface Pressure: Do not push down or force the weight of your body onto the grinder face. Allow the hybrid abrasive to work naturally against the surface to prevent deep tracking marks or accidental chipping.

  • Continuous Sweeping Motion: Keep the cup wheel flat and constantly moving across the workpiece. Pausing the tool in a single, localised spot under pressure will quickly create uneven valleys or wave patterns on the edge profile.

Application Constraints Warning

NEVER run the Hybrid Resin Cup completely dry, as this will lead to immediate thermal degradation of the bond, tool failure, and potential discoloration of the material. Additionally, while highly effective for porcelain and vitrified stone surfaces, this hybrid bond is not intended for heavy, bulk stock removal on thick natural granites or abrasive quartzites, as rough blocks will wear through the specialised resin matrix at an accelerated rate.
